2023 Tax Credit Opportunities for Energy-Efficient Home Improvements

When it’s time to make upgrades to one’s home, homeowners often look to make smart, energy-efficient choices that will benefit their wallet in the long run – especially for windows and doors! With the introduction of the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act, the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit extends and improves upon previously available federal tax credits.

Annual Savings

Exterior doors qualify for a federal tax credit of 30% of the project cost or $250 per door, up to $500. Windows qualify for a federal tax credit of 30% of the project cost or up to $600.

Homeowners can gain additional tax credits for other energy-efficient home improvements as well. A summary table of product categories and adjusted tax savings for 2023 can be found here.
